The new wedding season has heralded the arrival of season-friendly ladies wedding wear. TOI reports on how to look good Looking fashionable during the summer wedding season is a huge challenge. The heat can make the best of us lose our cool if we choose to wear the usual outfits that can make us look just that extra-gorgeous. But then, where there is fashion, there is a way.
There are many new options that are both stylish and classy, reassuring everyone who might have been wondering how to dress just right without feeling the heat: and suffering because of it.
So, say good bye to heavy, cumbersome outfits that will make one feel the pain of carrying them. Welcome all those outfits, which are traditionally known to be rich and multi-layered but have now donned a new avatar to battle the cruel climate.Damayanti Raje Bhonsle, fashion merchandiser, tells us about some trends this season, We will see a lot of sober colours in vogue, also a lot of pearl pinks and yellows. Brocade does not do as well as it is hot and people prefer sticking to softer fabrics. Silk is extremely hot and difficult to maintain. But a mix of cotton and silk or just experimenting with cotton and floral motifs, or the simple use of georgettes and chiffons with light zari work, is also a good way to look glamorous and still keep it light.Seema Ahuja, banking professional, plans to say I do in mid-April. For her, the most important factor while choosing her trousseau was comfort. She says, I finally settled down for a lehenga that was designed to be really light. It is made from organza, and has very delicate lining. The colour I chose was turquoise, as it lent a very summery feel to the outfit. Even the thread and sequin-work was very fine so that the sight of it does not hurt your eyes and make you feel hot!The look is also more season-specific when it comes to the jewellery and accessories. The buzzword is minimal: pairing an outfit with any one piece of jewellery, in the form of a neckpiece, a chunky bracelet or a clutch or chandeliers. A lot of silver inset with coloured stones in purple, pinks or shades of emerald are very hot this season. Designer Nivedita Saboo lets us in on some styles that will be dominating the bridal scene in the coming months. The look is that of less is more. Summer is a tricky time to wear a lot of materials. A lot of fabrics like chiffons or georgettes in peaches and pinks and golds will be the order of the day. Its also about deviating from the traditional and mixing styles, so we shall have a lot of Indian mixed with the baroque. As far as accessories are concerned, super-bling earrings will be the most stylish to sport. In other words, we are all set to experience new fashion statements this season, there being many new ways to beat the heat.
